Fitna - Privacy Policy

Thank you for using Fitna - Gamified fitness (com.ermine.fitna). This Privacy Policy describes what data the app accesses, how it is used, how long it is kept, and how you can delete it. In short: Fitna does not collect your data. Everything you record stays on your device.

1. No Personal Data Collection

Fitna does not collect, transmit, or sell personal or sensitive user data such as names, email addresses, contacts, or other identifying information. We do not operate user accounts, and we do not run any analytics or advertising services. All activity-related data (your activities, GPS routes, fitness trackers, and app settings) is created and stored locally on your device only. It is never uploaded to, or stored on, any server controlled by us.

2. Location and Background Location

Fitna uses your device's location solely to record your fitness activities and their routes (for example a run, ride, or walk) and to show them on a map.

So that recording keeps working when the app is in the background or the screen is off, Fitna may ask for the "Allow all the time" (background location) permission and runs a foreground service with a visible notification while an activity is being recorded. The app shows a clear in-app disclosure and asks for your explicit consent before requesting this permission.

Your location data is used only on your device to build and display the recorded route. It is not uploaded, shared, or sent to any server. You can revoke location access at any time in your device's system settings; recording simply stops working until you grant it again.

3. Data Import and Export

You can import and export your fitness data (for example GeoJSON/JSON files and full on-device backups). These operations are performed locally on your device using the system file picker and share sheet. Fitna does not receive, transmit, or store your files or the information within them.

4. Optional Strava Import

Fitna offers an optional feature to import your own activities from Strava. If - and only if - you choose to use it, you authorise the import on Strava's own website, and your selected routes are fetched onto your device through our Strava exporter service. The temporary route file created during the import is overwritten on the next import, is not linked to any Fitna account, and is not used for analytics or advertising. You can revoke Fitna's access at any time in your Strava account settings (strava.com/settings/apps). Once imported, the activities live on your device like any other.

5. Third-Party Services

Fitna does not integrate or communicate with any advertising networks or analytics providers. Maps are rendered using Google Maps; map tiles are loaded from Google to display your route, but Fitna does not send your recorded activity data to any third party.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

Retention: Because all of your data is stored only on your device, we do not retain any of your data on our servers - there is nothing for us to keep. Your activities, routes, fitness trackers, and settings remain on your device for as long as you choose to keep them.

How to delete your data: You are always in full control and can remove your data at any time:

• Delete an individual activity from the activity's detail screen (menu → Delete).
• Delete a fitness tracker from the tracker's screen (menu → Delete).
• Reset all app settings from Settings (the reset button restores defaults).
• Clear the app's storage from your device's system settings (Settings → Apps → Fitna → Storage → Clear data) to remove everything at once.
• Uninstall Fitna to permanently delete all of its data from your device.

Since we hold no copy of your data on any server, there is no server-side data to request deletion of. If you used the optional Strava import, you can additionally revoke access at strava.com/settings/apps.

7. Children's Privacy

Fitna is not directed to children and does not knowingly collect data from anyone. As no data leaves the device, no personal information is gathered from any user, including children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page and, where relevant, within the application. Please review this policy periodically to stay informed of any updates.
